1. Function
SQLEDIT v1.0 is an application which runs against an OS/2 DBM database under OS/2
2.0 and ES 1.0. It enables either the owner of the standalone data base or the database
administrator to edit data stored in the database in terms of the defined structure
(tables columns) of the data base. The only SQL expertise required is the ability
to run an SQL query that will retrieve the data to be edited.
2. Installation
Unzip the downloaded file into some directory. Included in the package are some files with
an extension of .DLL. These must be placed in a directory included in the LIBPATH
environment variable. Additionally, if the online help facility is to function correctly,
the file SQLEDIT.HLP must be placed in a directory included in the environment variable
HELP. If it is desired to create a Workplace Shell object for SQLEDIT, an icon file,
SQLEDIT.ICO, is included in the package. Also, the file SQLEDIT.INI must be placed in a
directory included in the DPATH environment variable.
3. Execution requirements
The SQLEDIT program is designed to run on oan OS/2 2.0 system. Although it has not been
tried, it will surely fail to run on earlier releases of OS/2. Also, to execute the program,
the STARTDBM program must have been executed to bring up the data base engine before
SQLEEDIT is invoked. In addition, the user executing SQLEDIT must have previously logged
on with appropriate authorization. Execution speed is generally a function of the the
available resources (free RAM, processor speed). Your mileage may vary.
4. Registration
The version of SQLEDIT you have downloaded from the bulletin board is a demonstration version.
It has full function, but may only be invoked for a total of 20 executions. To acquire a copy
of SQLEDIT which allows for unlimited number of executions, you must register for a copy
of the unrestricted version of the program. This may be done by sending $40 (US) to:
